U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Christopher Weichman
Born in Phoenix, Arizona, U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Christopher Weichman grew up outside Kent, Ohio. Initially, Christopher enlisted in the Ohio National Guard but transferred to active-duty Air Force in January 2003 after realizing he loved the military lifestyle.
Christopher served his country for nearly 16 years. He spent the majority of his military career serving as a Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape (SERE) instructor, teaching survival and resistance skills to personnel who were at high risk of capture.
During combat training in August 2006, Christopher fell 25 feet, sustaining injuries to his head and neck resulting in extensive nerve damage. Despite these injuries, he continued to serve, leading combat training, conducting parachute and diving operations and serving in various countries in the Middle East. In 2009, due to increasing pain, Christopher underwent spinal surgery, returning to active duty after four months of recovery, even though the surgery only moderately improved his pain levels. Later, while exiting from a hovering helicopter in Afghanistan, Christopher sustained lower back injuries, resulting in bulging discs.
As a result of these injuries and others sustained during his service to his country, Christopher suffers from bulging discs, arthritis and degenerative disc disease, in addition to nerve damage, knee pain and more.
He has been honored with several awards and accolades for his service, including the Bronze Star, an Air Force Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf clusters, and Air Force Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, a National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with three service stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and many more. Christopher was medically discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 2018.
After his discharge, Christopher has worked to serve others through entrepreneurship. He previously owned two fitness studios from 2017-2023 and currently owns and operates a survival and mountain expedition school. He also teaches self-defense and personal protection skills at workshops throughout the year.
Christopher is engaged to his fiancé, Carlotta Margheri, and is the father of two daughters and one son from a previous marriage. In his spare time, he enjoys lifting weights, mountaineering, hiking, camping, fishing, Jujitsu and more. The couple lives in Spokane, Washington, where they are close to Chris’ children and medical care.
Operation Finally Home is honored to partner with Lennar and Beyond The Barracks to provide Master Sergeant Christopher Weichman and his family the gift of a personalized home in Spokane.
